Sound Reading engages the student by exposing him/her to the letter-sound correspond­ences one at a time followed by letter formation and blending sounds as they are learn them. It covers the code and can be spread over a one or two year time frame. High frequency words are intermingled to increase fluency.

The Packbus Script and the online Packbus Sound Board supplement the text in proving segmenting and blending via phoneme manipulation activities. These tools can be easily adapted to help in remediating struggling students by selectively targeting code deficits.
